DUBAI – The UAE’s national spirit soared high yesterday as the country’s leading airlines – Emirates, flydubai, and Etihad Airways – joined the nation in celebrating Flag Day 2025.

The day, observed annually to honour the country’s founding leaders and the values of unity and pride they instilled, saw Emirates and flydubai host flag-raising ceremonies in Dubai, while Etihad marked the occasion through a special online tribute.

Emirates marks Flag Day 2025

Emirates Group staff gathered at the airline’s Dubai headquarters in what was described as a “display of national unity and pride,” led by Chairman and Chief Executive Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. Hundreds of employees from across the Group’s divisions took part in the flag-raising ceremony.

The UAE national anthem was performed by the Dubai Police Band as employees, dressed in UAE colours, assembled under the raised flag. Staff also contributed to an interactive tribute, recording messages in a pop-up telephone booth dedicated to the UAE’s late Founding Fathers.

The initiative invited participants to share reflections on the nation’s journey and pay homage to leaders such as Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid.

At the flydubai Campus in Dubai’s Knowledge Park, the Dubai-based carrier held its own flag-raising ceremony.

Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer, was joined by senior management and members of the airline’s diverse workforce to hoist the UAE flag. The event highlighted the airline’s multicultural team, representing more than 140 nationalities, gathered in a unified show of patriotism.

Etihad pays tribute

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways joined the nationwide spirit by sharing a video tribute on its official social media channels, extending its congratulations and solidarity on the occasion of UAE Flag Day.

These activities coincided with the launch of the UAE’s annual National Month campaign – a period of national celebrations spanning from early November through to December, designed to foster pride, identity, and collective memory.
